Our story
We didn’t go looking for a spice brand. We went looking for how to feel well again.
For years in the city, we ate what was easy — busy kitchens, busy shelves, spices nobody questioned. And for years, we kept falling sick. Not dramatically. Just that low-grade feeling that something isn’t right: colds that linger, digestion that never settles, health that’s “fine” but never quite whole.
Dharamsala
Then came a trip to the hills.
Part of our family is from Dharamsala — tucked in the Himachal foothills, where the air is clean and the kitchen still runs the old way. Simple food. Vegetables from nearby farms. Spices stone-ground as villages have done for generations: slow, cool, no shortcuts.
Within days, something shifted.
More energy. Less bloating. A lightness we hadn’t felt in years. The meals looked familiar — sabzi, dal, roti — but the spices were different. Really different.
Back in Gurgaon, we brought some home and cooked the same way. The difference held.
What if everyone could cook with spices like this?

Clean air. Old kitchens. Spices still treated like they matter.
What we do differently
Whole. Alive. The way it was before shortcuts.
We source from small farms in the Himalayan foothills — places where traditional spice craft still means something. No anonymous blending rooms. No heat that strips a spice of what makes it worth using.
Straight from growers
Named origins and small farms — not a warehouse blend of whoever was cheapest this month.
Stone-ground, slow and cool
The village way: patience over speed, so oils, colour, and aroma survive.
Treated like medicine, not filler
In the hills, spice still carries care. That’s the standard we bring to your tadka.

Why it matters
Most city spices are a memory of spice — not the thing itself.
Processed, blended, stored, re-packaged — until what’s left is mostly colour and smell. We started Beyond Spices because your kitchen deserves better than that.
We figured it out by accident in Dharamsala. Now we’re making sure you don’t need a trip to the hills to taste the difference.
